MagnaCare,
a health plan services company with national reach, today announces that
from April 1-15, 2010, the Company will donate $1 (up to $1,000) to Soldier
Socks for every fan that signs up on MagnaCare
Facebook. Soldier Socks is an organization that donates socks and
other necessities to the military serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
“Cold weather conditions force US soldiers to wear multiple pairs of
socks, making this initiative timely and of great need,” says Joseph
Berardo Jr., president and CEO of MagnaCare. “When it gets warm,
soldiers are again faced with the challenge of having to change their
socks throughout the day. As a result, socks are in high demand for men
and women.”
Since the inception of SoldierSocks in July 2009, the group has shipped
over seven tons of supplies including baby wipes and tube socks to
soldiers.
“These are simple items that civilians take for granted,” explains
Berardo. “They are inexpensive, light-weight and make an important
difference in a soldier’s day when he or she is carrying 90 pounds of
gear over rough terrain.”
As a sponsor and partner on the Soldier Socks website, MagnaCare ties
its contribution with Facebook, getting fans involved in MagnaCare’s
holistic approach to health management and health improvement, while
encouraging individuals to proactively address their personal health
issues.
